Servicing People with Disabilities

Health Canada reports that over 3.3 million Canadians have reported some type of disability that effects their health or well being.

Nova Scotia has many resources for people with disabilities. The government also provides financial assistance to people with a recognized disability. In all government buildings there should be wheelchair access. In most public places such as malls and schools, there is access for people with disabilities. For more information, go to the Nova Scotia Disabled Persons Commission.

Metro Transit (Halifax Regional Municipality) provides a service for people with disabilities called Access-A-Bus. It is for people who lack the cognitive or physical ability required to use the regular Metro Transit bus service. For more information, check the Access-A-Bus website.

At Workink you can access online employment services for people with disabilities.
