If you need legal services in Nova Scotia, there are many options available to you. For information on lawyers practising in Nova Scotia, you can check with the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society.

Legal Aid

If you require legal services, but can’t afford to hire a lawyer, you may be eligible for assistance through Legal Aid. It provides a lawyer for people who otherwise couldn’t afford one.

There are 13 community based law offices in Nova Scotia that deal with legal aid cases, as well as the Halifax/Dartmouth Metro Community Law Clinic. Legal Aid is not available for refugee claimants.

The Halifax Refugee Clinic is an organization that provides legal assistance to eligible refugees seeking asylum in Canada. It is located at:
