What you Need to Work in Nova Scotia
As you prepare to find your job or career in Nova Scotia, remember that you must have the right documentation. Use the following checklist for important documents you need to get started.
- Record of Landing. This proves that you have arrived in Canada legally and that you can work here legally as well.
- Social Insurance Number. This is issued by the Government of Canada and is a necessity for anyone who works in Canada (including Canadian citizens) permanently or temporarily. See Getting a Social Insurance Number section of this website for more information.
- Résumé or Curriculum Vitae (CV). This is a document you create that lists your educational and employment history.
- Letters of Reference or Recommendation. Although these are not necessary, they are very useful to show employers. These letters are usually written by a former employer, teacher or someone in a reputable position.
