How to Immigrate

Family Class
Offers Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Canada, 18 years of age or older, an opportunity to sponsor close relatives or family members who want to become permanent residents.

Business Class
Seeks to attract experienced business people (entrepreneurs, investors and self-employed) to Canada who will support the development of a strong and prosperous economy.

Skilled Worker Class
Seeks to attract skilled workers who education, work experience, knowledge of English or French and other abilities that will help them to establish themselves successfully in Canada.

Refugee Class
Offers safe haven to persons with a well-founded fear of persecution, as well as those at risk of torture or cruel and unusual treatment or punishment.

Provincial Nominee Class
Encourages immigrants to settle in particular provinces, such as Nova Scotia,  to benefit their labour market and economies.

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program

If you are interested in immigrating to Nova Scotia, the Provincial Nominee Class may be your preferred option. The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) offers a quicker entry into Canada for qualified workers and experienced entrepreneurs who intend to settle and become permanent residents in Nova Scotia. There are four categories:

Skilled Worker Stream
There are specific sectors in Nova Scotia that have many opportunities for skilled immigrants. This stream fast-tracks applicants who have the needed skills and permanent full-time job offers.

Family Business Worker Stream
This helps family-owned businesses to hire close relatives who have skills that couldn't be found in Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Community Identified Stream
Aimed at individuals who are employable, have strong established connections to a Nova Scotia community, and can contribute to the labour market and economy of that specific community.

International Graduate Stream
Aimed at international students who have studied and graduated in Nova Scotia post-secondary institutions, and have  permanent full-time job offers
